Job description

A healthcare organization is seeking a Medical Assistant in Queens, NY to support both clinical and administrative operations in a patient-centered ambulatory care setting. This role involves assisting with patient flow, direct care support, and front desk coordination to help ensure a smooth clinic experience.

About the Opportunity:

  • Shift: Day shift
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Hours: Standard business hours
  • Setting: In-person clinic

Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients and guests, answer phones, and provide courteous front desk support
  • Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and assist with registration, check-in, and check-out
  • Support patient flow by communicating wait times, monitoring the waiting area, and resolving routine concerns
  • Assist clinical staff with direct patient care tasks such as vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, and procedure support
  • Document accurately in the EMR, scan records, maintain exam rooms, and support referrals, outreach, and care coordination activities

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an Ambulatory Care setting
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or eligibility to sit for the national certification exam and pass within 18 months of hire
  • Experience using an Electronic Medical Record system

Desired Skills:

  • Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree
