Medical Assistant

Location: Jonesboro, GA

Facility: Internal Medicine / Urgent Care

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Including evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Role Summary

We are looking for a versatile and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to join our clinical team for our internal medical practice in Jonesboro GA seeking to perform both administrative and clinical tasks to help reach quality care of patients and assist providers to ensure patient care is efficient.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Patient Intake: Room patients, obtain medical histories, reconcile medications, and accurately record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.).
  • Diagnostic Support: Perform CLIA-waived lab tests (strep, flu, COVID, pregnancy, urinalysis), draw blood (phlebotomy), and conduct EKG and pulmonary function tests.
  • Procedures: Assist providers with minor surgical procedures (laceration repairs, incision & drainage), splinting, and wound care.
  • Medication Administration: Administer injections and vaccinations as directed by the provider.
  • Equipment Care: Sterilize instruments and ensure exam rooms are stocked and sanitized according to OSHA and HIPAA standards.

Administrative Duties

  • Patient Flow: Manage the front-to-back flow of patients to minimize wait times, especially during high-volume urgent care shifts.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely entries in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Coordination: Assist with patient callbacks, prescription refills, and specialist referrals for primary care patients.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certification: CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) preferred; BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1โ€“2 years in an Urgent Care or Primary Care setting. Experience with phlebotomy and EKG is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Proficiency in EMR systems; strong multitasking abilities to pivot between acute needs and scheduled wellness visits.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and most holidays to meet our commitment to the community.
