To thrive as a Medical Assistant in a concierge practice, you need a solid grounding in clinical procedures, patient care, and medical terminology, usually backed by a medical assistant certification or diploma. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, appointment scheduling software, and point-of-care testing devices is typically required. In a concierge practice, Medical Assistants typically work with smaller patient panels, allowing for more personalized care and deeper patient relationships. Responsibilities often include coordinating appointments, assisting with preventive care, and supporting physicians in providing comprehensive, unhurried visits. The work environment tends to be more collaborative, with direct communication between staff and providers to ensure a high standard of service. This setting may also offer increased opportunities for learning and professional growth due to the close-knit nature of the team and the focus on patient experience.

Job description

We are seeking a polished, patient-focused Clinical Medical Assistant to support our physician team across daily clinical operations. This is a highly visible, patient-facing role that requires equal parts clinical competence and hospitality-level customer service. You will work closely with our physicians across multiple specialties, helping ensure every patient encounter is seamless, efficient, and exceptional.

Key Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, chief complaint, medication lists, and relevant history
  • Assist physicians across multiple specialties with examinations, procedures, and in-office treatments
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection; coordinate lab processing and results routing
  • Administer injections and medications under physician direction per scope of practice
  • Prepare and maintain exam rooms; ensure equipment is stocked, clean, and procedure-ready
  • Manage prior authorizations, referral coordination, and specialty-specific administrative tasks
  • Communicate with patients in a warm, professional manner — in person, by phone, and via the patient portal
  • Support scheduling, patient check-in/check-out, and general front-to-back office flow as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical MA experience, preferably in an outpatient or multi-specialty setting
  • Phlebotomy skills strongly preferred; phlebotomy certification a plus
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills — you genuinely enjoy working with people
  • Professional demeanor and appearance consistent with a high-end, concierge practice environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities with grace under pressure
  • Proficiency with EMR systems; experience with athenahealth, Epic, or similar platforms preferred
  • CPR/BLS certification required (or willingness to obtain prior to start)

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly compensation commensurate with experience
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Small, supportive team with direct mentorship from specialty physicians
  • Exposure to a broad range of specialties and clinical procedures in a single practice
  • A positive, professional workplace culture where your contributions are recognized
  • Beautiful Newport Beach office environment with a grateful, high-quality patient population
