Job description

St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join an innovative and growing Interventional Cardiology program focused on Complex High-Risk Indicated Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (CHIP) and Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) procedures.

This unique opportunity offers the chance to work alongside a highly skilled interventional cardiologist while helping build and expand a specialized program dedicated to treating patients with complex coronary artery disease and chronic total occlusions. Many patients are referred because they wish to avoid open-heart surgery or are not surgical candidates due to their high-risk clinical status.

Ideal candidates will thrive in a high-autonomy environment, enjoy solving complex clinical challenges, and be excited about contributing to the growth and development of a new service line. Responsibilities include outpatient follow-up care, pre-operative consultations, inpatient consultations, hospital rounding, care coordination, and outreach efforts to support program growth and provider engagement.

This is an opportunity to be part of one of the nation's leading mission-driven healthcare organizations while working with a collaborative and highly supportive team in Southern California.

Position Details:

  • Full-time position, Monday through Friday

  • No call responsibilities

  • Approximately two-thirds outpatient clinic and one-third inpatient/hospital responsibilities

  • Help build and expand a growing CHIP/CTO program across multiple campuses

  • Significant autonomy with direct physician collaboration and mentorship

  • Participate in outpatient care, inpatient consultations, hospital rounding, and occasional post-procedure follow-up

  • Collaborate with referring physicians, cardiologists, APPs, and multidisciplinary care teams

  • Assist with provider outreach, educational initiatives, and program awareness efforts

  • Opportunity to help coordinate presentations and strengthen referral relationships throughout the community

  • Flexible work environment with a focus on meeting patient and program needs

  • Average patient volume of 8 to 12 patients per day

  • Join a highly collegial team of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, and support staff

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation is between $163,129 and $209,736 per year

  • 5 days CME plus $2,500 annual CME allowance

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and malpractice coverage

The posted salary reflects the starting range of total compensation and may include productivity bonuses, incentives related to quality and performance, hospital/ED call stipends, extra shift incentives, and other forms of cash compensation as applicable to the position. In addition, providers typically receive a CME allowance and other benefits offered by their medical group employer. Please note that this salary range is provided in accordance with State law and is subject to variation due to the factors noted above.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)

  • Cardiology experience required; interventional cardiology experience preferred

  • Experience managing complex cardiovascular patients strongly preferred

  • Comfortable working independently in a high-autonomy practice environment

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Interest in program development, provider engagement, and growing referral networks

  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to think creatively when addressing clinical and operational challenges
