Job description

  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Reports To:
      • Practice Manager

    • Summary:
      • Observe performance of staff as they complete administrative and certain clinical duties. Administrative duties observed may include scheduling appointments, FMLA, Prior Authorizations, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties observed may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, and administering medications as directed by a physician. Completion of a rotational schedule in multiple outpatient clinics may be required. Candidates are responsible for attending the DCMH-sponsored Medical Assistant (MA) Training Program and fulfilling all the necessary requirements set in place by a third party curriculum.
    • Work Schedule:
        •  Must be able to work non-standard work hours.
        •  12-week program consisting of 40 hours per week. This schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the class/clinics. 
        • Must be able to attend classes.

    • Other Requirements
        • This program consists of 16 weeks of instruction, labs, and completion of a 160-hour externship.
        • This position requires constant standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, lifting and carrying 0–20 lbs and pushing and pulling 0–12 lbs.
        • Upon completion of the program, an additional two-year commitment of employment with Decatur County Memorial Hospital will be required. If candidates fail to meet this commitment, repayment of the value of education is required per educational reimbursement policy.
