Job description

The US Medical Affairs Manager of Virology Scientific Collaboration reports directly to the USMA Virology Scientific Collaboration, Director, and will serve as a point of contact for US Medical Affairs engagement with US external societies and medical scientific organizations, a cross-functional partner across USMA Virology with a focus on gastroenterology, hepatology or metabolic diseases. Position based in Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

    • Partners with Liver Strategy to lead engagements with external societies and scientific/medical organizations.
    • Develops engagement strategies and key initiatives with scientific educational organizations, including medical booth at congresses.
    • Drives conference strategy and execution, e.g., manages conference allocations and centralized planning process
    • Works cross functionally within US Affiliate teams (USMA, Commercial, Legal and Medical Governance, Public Affairs and Government Affairs) on initiatives related to key external collaborations, projects, and working groups. Coordinates with Global Medical Affairs on key congress activities.
    • Develops medical educational tools and congress symposia aligned with medical strategy. Manages Medical Review Committee (MRC) review and approval of congress and booth content.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

    • MD, PhD, PharmD, NP or PA or other advanced health care degree and 1-3 years of relevant work experience in gastroenterology, hepatology or metabolic disorders or related clinical field required.
    • 2+ years industry experience preferred.
    • Ability to cultivate, strengthen, and strategically manage highimpact relationships with Strategic Partners and medical organizations including professional societies, academic partners, and community leaders
    • Demonstrated ability to shape Medical Affairs strategy by integrating scientific insights, organizational priorities, and external landscape trends, and to translate strategic direction into clear, actionable, and measurable implementation plans.
    • Strong strategic and organizational skills with a track record of leading complex projects ensuring alignment, resource coordination, and delivery of highquality outputs.
    • Experience supporting medical booth and congress content development and execution through cross-functional collaboration, with a strong understanding of MRC/PRC review processes and compliant scientific communication standards for proactive and reactive materials.
    • Ability to anticipate emerging needs, proactively manage competing priorities, and allocate resources across concurrent projects by applying sound judgment, risk assessment, and forwardthinking planning.
    • Strong cross functional leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive alignment and foster a culture of shared accountability. Highly organized, detailoriented, and consistently dependable in meeting ambitious timelines in a rapid, dynamic environment.
    • Deep understanding of regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements governing Medical Affairs with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
    • Thrives in a matrixed environment with a high level of autonomy, navigating ambiguity, and driving initiatives forward while maintaining clear communication and engaging partners at all levels of the organization.
