Job description

Position Summary:
The Model Maker, 3D Printing and Casting is responsible for the set-up, removal, cleaning and finishing of 3D printed parts and the fabrication of plastic models to display medical implants. This process includes the modification of digital models, 3D printing of the parts, the finishing of these parts and the installation of implants in the final construct. The individual will also be responsible for the maintenance of the equipment including scheduled maintenance and routine servicing. Additionally, this individual is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the casting area.
Essential Functions:
  • Assisting with the creation and assembly of display models through 3-D printing techniques and traditional casting
  • Digitally modifying stereolithography, or STL, files for printing
  • Setting up supports for print files
  • Operating 3D printer including loading new material and print files
  • Post processing parts including: washing, support removal, filing, sanding, painting and assembling finished parts
  • Collaborating with Product Development teams to achieve the best print set-ups and scheduling to meet their specific needs
  • Updating progress of projects using Jira
  • Producing master models to use in the production of silicone molds including preparing polyurethane resin, setting up molds, pouring, casting, venting molds and de-molding finished parts
  • Performing sanding and polishing functions on clear polyurethane cast parts using hand and power equipment
  • Maintaining a clean work environment by regular cleaning and upkeep
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies.
  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties

Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of experience; High School Diploma
  • Experience with hand and power tools; Manual dexterity and fine motor skills needed for the use of tools requiring frequent hand and arm movement
  • Knowledge of CREO a plus
  • Some experience with a digital drawing or Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) program
  • Desired experience includes digital drawing, 3D printing, model making, spray painting, and hand finishing of plastics
  • Experience with Carbon 3D printers a plus
  • Dependable, hard worker who can listen, learn and apply
  • Experience with mold making, casting, model making and or polishing plastics
  • Strong self-starter who can work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; able to multi-task frequently
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and a team player capable of working in a deadline dictated environment

  • Required to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
