Job description

Studio Manager

Location: Asheville, NC

Position Type: Approximately 35 hours per week
Compensation: $18–$22 per hour, based on experience, plus commission opportunities

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, results-driven Studio Manager to lead our HOTWORX Asheville team.

This position is primarily focused on managing and developing employees, tracking sales and membership performance, and creating accountability around measurable goals. We are looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys coaching people, monitoring performance, and helping a team consistently improve.

The Studio Manager is expected to work approximately 35 hours per week and will be compensated at an hourly rate of $18–$22 per hour, based on experience, plus commissions.

Employee Leadership & Management

The Studio Manager will:

  • Recruit, interview, train, and onboard employees as needed

  • Create and maintain employee schedules

  • Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions

  • Ensure employees complete required training and certifications

  • Clearly communicate expectations, responsibilities, and performance standards

  • Provide regular coaching, feedback, and development

  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, and performance

  • Hold employees accountable for completing assigned responsibilities and meeting expectations

  • Conduct performance evaluations and address performance concerns when necessary

  • Create a positive, motivated, and accountable team environment

  • Develop action plans when employee performance is not meeting expectations

Manage Sales & Membership Performance

The Studio Manager should be comfortable reviewing statistics and using data to improve team performance.

Responsibilities include monitoring:

  • Individual employee sales performance

  • New memberships and net membership growth

  • Progress toward studio membership goals

  • Lead follow-up activity

  • Guest appointments and conversions

  • Closing percentages

  • Individual and team sales goals

  • Employee prospecting and follow-up activity

  • Cancellations and membership trends affecting growth

The Studio Manager will use this information to identify opportunities, recognize areas where employees need additional coaching, and implement action plans to improve performance.

Drive Team Accountability & Membership Growth

The Studio Manager will help drive studio growth by effectively managing the performance and consistency of the team.

This includes:

  • Setting and communicating individual and team goals

  • Ensuring employees consistently follow up with prospective members

  • Monitoring sales activity and closing percentages

  • Coaching employees on tours, sales conversations, objection handling, follow-up, and closing

  • Regularly reviewing employee performance and progress toward goals

  • Creating action plans when goals are not being met

  • Keeping employees informed about their individual performance and team progress

  • Maintaining a culture of accountability, urgency, and follow-through

  • Motivating and developing employees to consistently improve results

  • Communicating studio and team performance with ownership

Social Media & Content Responsibilities

The Studio Manager will play an active role in maintaining HOTWORX Asheville's social media presence and ensuring the studio consistently produces engaging content.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain a social media content plan in collaboration with ownership and/or the team

  • Ensure consistent content is posted across assigned social media platforms

  • Create, capture, or coordinate photos and videos that highlight the studio, members, workouts, promotions, products, and team

  • Delegate and coordinate content responsibilities among employees when appropriate

  • Review content performance and identify opportunities to improve engagement and reach

  • Ensure social media content is consistent with the HOTWORX brand while also helping showcase the personality and culture of the Asheville studio

  • Promote current offers, events, membership opportunities, and other studio initiatives through social media

  • Encourage team participation in creating relevant and engaging content

The Studio Manager does not need to be a professional content creator, but should be comfortable using social media, creating basic photo and video content, and ensuring that posting responsibilities are completed consistently.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate:

  • Has experience managing, coaching, or leading employees

  • Is comfortable holding people accountable and having direct performance conversations

  • Has sales experience and understands lead conversion and closing

  • Is comfortable reviewing performance statistics and using data to improve results

  • Is comfortable with social media platforms

  • Is motivated by measurable goals

  • Is organized, dependable, and punctual

  • Can balance being a supportive leader with maintaining clear expectations

  • Is proactive and able to identify performance issues and opportunities for improvement

  • Has a strong work ethic and leads by example

Why This Role Is Different

This is not primarily a financial or operational management position. The focus of this role is on people and performance.

We are looking for someone who enjoys leading a team and asking questions like:

  • How is each employee performing?

  • Are team members consistently following up with leads?

  • What are our closing and conversion percentages?

  • Are we on track to meet our membership growth goals?

  • Where does an employee need additional coaching?

  • What actions can we take to improve team performance?

If you are a hands-on leader who enjoys developing employees, tracking performance, creating accountability, and helping a team achieve measurable membership growth, we'd love to hear from you.
