Job description

Apex Athletics – Santa Rosa, CA
Full-Time | On-Site

About Apex Athletics

Apex Athletics is a growing indoor sports and training facility in Santa Rosa serving youth athletes, adults, teams, coaches, and families throughout Sonoma County.

Our facility offers sports performance training, private lessons, memberships, camps, clinics, team training, basketball, baseball, softball, and facility rentals.

We are looking for a motivated Gym Manager / Membership Sales Manager who can help us grow the business while delivering an outstanding experience to every athlete and family who walks through our doors.

The Position

This is not just a front-desk position.

We are looking for someone with proven sales ability who is comfortable talking with prospective members, following up with leads, giving facility tours, explaining our programs, and asking for the sale.

The right person will also help manage the daily operations of the facility and make sure Apex remains professional, organized, clean, welcoming, and ready for our athletes and coaches.

Primary Responsibilities

Membership Sales & Business Development

  • Respond quickly to incoming phone, email, website, and social media leads.
  • Call and follow up with prospective members.
  • Schedule facility tours and athlete assessments.
  • Explain membership options, lessons, camps, clinics, and training programs.
  • Identify the right program for each athlete or family.
  • Confidently ask prospects to join and close membership sales.
  • Follow up with prospects who do not purchase immediately.
  • Re-engage past members and inactive leads.
  • Help coaches and trainers fill their schedules.
  • Promote upcoming camps, clinics, classes, and special programs.
  • Build relationships with local teams, leagues, coaches, schools, and sports organizations.

Facility Management

  • Help oversee the day-to-day operation of Apex Athletics.
  • Provide excellent customer service to athletes, parents, coaches, and renters.
  • Ensure the facility is clean, organized, safe, and professional.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitor facility schedules, rentals, training sessions, and events.
  • Help coordinate coaches and trainers.
  • Address customer questions and concerns professionally.
  • Ensure facility policies and procedures are followed.
  • Communicate issues and opportunities to ownership.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Previous sales experience.
  • Strong communication and customer-service skills.
  • Comfortable making outbound sales and follow-up calls.
  • Comfortable asking for and closing the sale.
  • Organized and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems, scheduling software, email, and CRM/lead-tracking tools.
  • Available for a schedule that may include some evenings and weekends.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Gym, fitness center, sports facility, health club, or membership sales experience.
  • Experience selling recurring memberships.
  • Experience managing leads and a sales pipeline.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of youth sports, fitness, baseball, softball, basketball, or athletic training.

What Success Looks Like

We want a manager who understands that great customer service and great sales go together.

Success will be measured through areas such as:

  • New memberships sold
  • Lead response time
  • Lead-to-member conversion rate
  • Facility tours and athlete assessments scheduled
  • Follow-up completion
  • Membership retention
  • Camp and clinic registrations
  • Private lesson and trainer utilization
  • Customer satisfaction
  • Overall facility organization and professionalism

The Person We're Looking For

You should enjoy talking to people and building relationships.

When a parent calls asking about training for their athlete, we don't want someone who simply gives them a price and hangs up. We want someone who asks questions, understands what the athlete needs, explains how Apex can help, schedules the next step, follows up, and ultimately earns their business.

We are looking for someone who sees opportunities, follows through, and wants to help grow something.

If you have experience managing a gym, fitness center, sports facility, or membership-based business—and you know how to sell—we would like to hear from you.

To Apply

Please submit your resume along with a short description of your previous sales, membership, gym, fitness, or facility-management experience.

We are especially interested in hearing about your experience generating leads, following up with prospects, selling memberships, and managing customer relationships.
