General Description /Primary Purpose

  • Reporting to the Assistant Director of SG Branches, the Social Media & Communications Coordinator oversees and advances UNF Student Government's social media presence through a unified branding and communications strategy, leading the Student Government Marketing & Communications team while collaborating with university partners to enhance engagement and reputation.
  • Serving as the administrative constant across student leadership transitions, this role develops and executes strategic campaigns, provides guidance on best practices, policy compliance, and ADA accessibility, and ensures a professional, ethical, and consistent social media presence that reflects the values of the UNF community.

Job Functions

  • Advise, supervise, train, and evaluate the Student Government Marketing and Communications team, overseeing daily operations, professional development, risk management awareness, and the implementation of communication best practices.
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing, communications, and social media strategies that advance Student Government's mission, enhance student engagement, support University strategic goals, and promote major programs, initiatives, and events.
  • Manage Student Government's digital presence and communication platforms, including social media channels, websites, event calendars, Perch Portal/Campus Groups, and other engagement tools, ensuring accessibility, ADA compliance, brand consistency, and effective audience outreach.
  • Develop, coordinate, and assess marketing campaigns and content, including messaging, photography, videography, visual identity, target audience engagement, cross-campus collaborations, and promotional materials across print, web, and social media platforms.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report communication performance metrics and trends, utilizing analytics, industry research, higher education best practices, and stakeholder feedback to inform strategy, continuous improvement, and leadership decision-making.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource on communications-related policies, compliance, and governance matters, including public records requests, applicable federal and state regulations, social media guidelines, standard operating procedures, and recommendations for senior leadership. Support operational and emergency communication needs, including social media monitoring during emergencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
