Job Description
Performs diagnostic quality imaging procedures and participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the catheterization laboratory. Provides scrub assistance to physician during catheterization procedures. Works effectively with others to meet physical and emotional patient needs. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

  • Current experience in a cardiac catheterization lab
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in pediatrics
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 year of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • No minimally required knowledge, skills, or abilities
Job Responsibilities
Operates imaging equipment related to image processing, image transmission, archiving, and computerized information system and assists in imaging procedures
  • Assists physician with imaging procedures performed in catheterization lab to produce the highest quality diagnostic scans for interpretation by cardiologists and administration of contrast media.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of all x-ray equipment.
  • Educates staff on proper use of x-ray equipment and serves as a resource for staff, physicians, and fellows.
Ensures radiation safety
  • Participates actively in lab to decrease radiation exposure to patients and staff through enforcement of proper technique.
  • Ensures integrity of all lead aprons is maintained by performing routine assessment of lead.
Operates and maintains skilled, working knowledge of all equipment with emphasis on physiologic monitoring for diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedure
  • Assists Registered Nurses with patient care, setup, positioning of patient, patient transport, and room turnaround.
  • Maintains ongoing quality assurance and daily maintenance in catheterization lab area.
  • Attends all required system and departmental education opportunities and participates in achievement of organizational and departmental goals.
