What is a media lab?

A Media Lab is a collaborative space or organization dedicated to exploring, researching, and innovating in the fields of media, technology, art, and design. These labs often bring together experts from various disciplines to develop new ways of creating and interacting with media, such as digital storytelling, interactive installations, and emerging communication technologies. Media Labs may be found in universities, research institutes, or as independent organizations, and they often support experimental projects, workshops, and community engagement initiatives.

What are some common challenges faced when working in a media lab environment?

Working in a Media Lab often involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and balancing creative experimentation with project deadlines. Professionals may encounter challenges such as integrating new technologies, adapting to rapidly evolving media trends, and managing diverse viewpoints in group projects. Effective communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new tools or methods are key to thriving in this dynamic setting. Supportive team structures and mentorships are frequently available to help navigate these challenges and encourage growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a media lab role, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Media Lab role, you need a strong background in digital media production, multimedia storytelling, and a relevant degree such as media studies, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with editing software like Adobe Creative Suite, video and audio equipment, and content management systems is typically required. Creativity, collaboration, and strong problem-solving skills help individuals excel in this dynamic and innovative environment. These competencies are essential for producing compelling content, adapting to new technologies, and effectively working within interdisciplinary teams.

Job description

Incubator Lab is looking for a talented Media Buyer to join our thriving team!

Role Objective:

We are looking for an experienced, specialized Google Ads Media Buyer who has successfully launched and scaled Google Demand Gen campaigns.

Please Note: This is not a general, standard PPC or search-only role. We specifically require someone with a proven track record of using high-impact visual creatives, audience segmentation, and algorithmic bidding to consistently drive profitable acquisition through Google's Demand Gen inventory (YouTube, Shorts, Discover, and Gmail).

What You'll Do

  • Own Demand Gen & Search Strategy: Strategize, build, launch, and optimize high-budget Google Demand Gen and Google Search campaigns from scratch to drive efficient direct-response customer acquisition.
  • Lead Funnel & Landing Page Strategy: Identify growth opportunities based on search intent. Determine when new landing pages, advertorials, or funnels are needed to support initiatives.
  • Project Manage Creative Assets: Brief and coordinate external developers and designers to launch new landing pages, funnels, and advertising assets.
  • Creative-Led Media Buying: Collaborate closely with Creative Strategists and Video Editors to define visual assets (images, carousels, video, and Shorts) needed for the Demand Gen machine.
  • Audience & Keyword Architecture: Master keyword strategy, search terms, lookalike segments, custom intent audiences, and first-party data lists to maximize Google's machine learning.
  • High-Frequency Testing: Design, run, and document rapid creative, funnel, and audience tests. Move independently from opportunity to test, launch, optimization, and scale based on hard data.
  • Compliance & Account Health: Proactively handle Google Ads compliance, ad disapprovals, policy issues, and appeals.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze attribution, monitor daily platform metrics (CTR, CPA, CVR, ROAS), and report actionable insights to the broader growth team.
  • Budget & Bid Management: Masterfully manage Smart Bidding algorithms (Maximize Conversions, Target CPA, Target ROAS) and account structures to scale spend efficiently.

What We Are Looking For

  • 1-2+ Years of Proven Demand Gen & Search Experience: Demonstrated success in structuring, launching, and scaling Google Demand Gen (and/or legacy Discovery) and Google Search campaigns.
  • 4+ Years of Overall Google Ads Expertise: Heavy emphasis on direct-response, conversion-focused eCommerce campaigns (YouTube Ads, Performance Max, and Search).
  • Funnel & Growth Mindset: You are a performance operator, not a campaign manager. You don't just maintain accounts-you identify consumer problems, map out compliance considerations, design the required landing pages, and scale the solution.
  • Creative-First Mindset: You understand that Demand Gen is a highly visual format. You know what makes a thumb-stopping hook and can partner with creatives to translate data into visual iterations.
  • Data-Driven & Analytical: Deep understanding of CPA, ROAS, CVR, scaling, tracking, pixel health, and complex user journeys.
  • High Ownership & Autonomy: Strong, autonomous operator comfortable in a fast-paced, async-first environment with minimal hand-holding.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Native Advertising Experience: Prior experience with networks like Taboola or Outbrain.
  • Niche eCommerce Experience: Background in Shopify, health/wellness, or other compliance-sensitive, rapid eCommerce environments.
  • Advanced Funnel Experience: Expertise creating and testing direct-response advertorials and multi-step funnels.
  • High-Scale Budgeting: Experience scaling budgets to 6 or 7 figures monthly.
  • Technical Analytics: Strong understanding of tracking, GA4, GTM, and offline conversion tracking setups.
WORKING HOURS: REMOTE-FIRST & ASYNCHRONOUS

We prioritize output over hours. However, because this role is deeply integrated with growth cycles, we require strong overlap with US business hours (EST/PST) for real-time scaling and troubleshooting.

HOW TO APPLY

We value data over feelings. To apply, please submit your resume alongside a brief case study or overview highlighting:

  • Your Demand Gen Experience: The exact budgets and scaling achievements you have personally managed within Google Demand Gen campaigns.
  • Your Creative Process: How you test and structure your image and video assets to feed the Demand Gen algorithm.

What's atypical about the company:

Incubator Labs is a performance-focused growth organization that builds and scales brands through rapid experimentation, creative iteration, and disciplined execution. We operate as an internal growth engine, not an agency.

Application Process:

Interested candidates should apply directly for consideration. Upon submitting your application, our hiring team will review your credentials and will notify you if you are selected to participate in the interview process. We appreciate your interest in IncubatorLab and kindly ask that you refrain from inquiries to our teams via LinkedIn.

No third party or agency submissions will be accepted

IncubatorLab is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We consider all qualified applicants for employment regardless of race, religious creed, color, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, marital status, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding, age, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, or any other protected classification, in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
