Job description

Under the guidance of the Media Lab Coordinator, the positionis primarily responsible for the planning, executing, and interacting with members and non-members during scheduled media lab classes. Aide in creating a professional and educational experience within the media lab space where members and non-members of all ages can learn to be proficient with digital technology and become digital citizens.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. PROGRAM MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

The Media Lab Instructor is to develop plan and execute activities and programs in the Sport & Recreation department. He/She is to be actively engaged and supervise children/participants, focusing on their safety, needs and enrichment. They are to provide positive member service and abide by all policies and rules of the South Shore YMCA.

2. STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Work with fellow YMCA staff members and treat them with respect. Perform other tasks and /or duties deemed necessary by the Media Lab Coordinator. Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related issues and concerns. Attend all staff meetings, maintain and update when required proper certifications.

3. MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT

Provide welcoming member service. Interact with members in a friendly, engaging and professional manor. Respond to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new families, and connects families to the YMCA's cause. Educate members of all policies and procedures of the YMCA. Be familiar with all information and answer questions about programs, schedules, and policies of the Sport & Recreation department. Ensure that the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies are fulfilled.

4. FACILITY MANAGEMENT

Assist in providing an area that is clean, safe and well maintained. Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and communicate to management any deficiencies in quantity and or quality of all equipment.

5. VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT

Support volunteers and their daily functions.

6. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT

Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.

COMPETENCIES

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand; walk and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
