Job description

We are hiring a Media Ingest Operator to join a top entertainment media company in Washington, DC. This freelance position will be running for 6 months with potential to extend and will be fully onsite in their DC office (40 hours per week. The Media Ingest Operator is responsible for loading digital media assets into Atris and supporting archive content onboarding activities. This role validates metadata, verifies file integrity, executes ingest workflows, and performs quality control reviews to ensure assets are processed accurately and made available for discovery and reuse. Working within established procedures, the position supports Archive Services by maintaining consistent ingest quality and processing efficiency.
  • Sat/Sun: 9:30 AM-6:00 PM and Mon-Wed: 3:00 PM-11:30 PM)
  • Pay Rate: $30-$35/HR

Responsibilities:
  • Upload digital assets into Atris while reviewing file inventories and supporting documentation.
  • Validate required metadata fields, verify file integrity, and ensure delivery completeness.
  • Execute automated and manual ingest workflows while monitoring processing activities.
  • Track ingest status, resolve routine processing issues, and escalate technical or metadata exceptions when needed.
  • Ensure digital media assets are accurately ingested according to archive standards for timely availability and reliable access.
  • Conduct quality control reviews by validating metadata, confirming file specifications and naming conventions, and verifying successful processing.
  • Identify discrepancies, document issues, and coordinate corrections with Archive Services staff.
  • Help maintain high archive quality standards to improve content discoverability, metadata consistency, and overall data integrity.
  • Maintain ingest documentation, update processing logs, track workload status, document exceptions, and communicate progress to Archive Services personnel.
  • Support accurate workflow tracking and documentation to improve operational efficiency and issue resolution.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Media Production, Communications, Information Technology, Library & Information Science, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM), Media Asset Management (MAM), content management systems, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Experience supporting archive, production, post-production, broadcast, or digital media environments.
  • Familiarity with media ingest workflows, file transfer systems, and cloud-based storage platforms.
  • Understanding of metadata standards and their role in content discovery and reuse.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify file, metadata, and processing discrepancies.
  • Ability to follow established workflows, procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of digital media formats, file naming conventions, and folder structures.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
