Job Posting Title:

Media Coordinator

Req ID:

10158005

Job Description:

The ABC News New York Bureau serves as the New York hub, leading breaking news coverage, enterprise reporting, and editorial coordination across the Eastern United States. The bureau plays a critical role in identifying, developing, and executing coverage of major national stories while partnering closely with network broadcasts, digital platforms, News Services, Audio, and Owned Television Stations.

The bureau oversees day-to-day newsgathering operations, manages field coverage, and deploys resources to support ABC News' editorial priorities-working in close partnership with the broader Global Newsgathering organization.

Under the direction of the Manager on Duty, Segment Producer, or Assignment Editor, the Media Coordinator supports daily newsgathering and content distribution operations across broadcast, digital, and affiliate platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with media ingest operations, including digital file conversion, importing content, and transferring media from third-party sources.
  • Prepare and distribute video cuts for affiliates, clients, OTV stations, and digital platforms.
  • Draft and format voiceover (VO) scripts for affiliate and client use with ABC News content.
  • Maintain and organize media assets within Pyramid and Extreme Reach systems.
  • Support live newscast production by facilitating communication between editorial and technical teams.
  • Coordinate the assignment of editing requests and assist with editing news content as needed.
  • Monitor live feeds and help manage content within the news rundown.
  • Provide operational support to field crews and escalate technical or content-related issues when appropriate.
  • Assist with quality control checks to ensure media is accurately processed, organized, and delivered on deadline.
  • Perform other production and media management duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in breaking news, television, digital, or streaming production preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Production Assistant or in an entry-level news production role strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with newsroom workflows, media asset management systems, and video editing platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Required Skills:
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple teams, including correspondents, producers, assignment editors, operations teams, and affiliates.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during major news events.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience producing live shots and remote broadcasts.
  • Familiarity with broadcast newsroom systems, video editing platforms, and content distribution tools.
  • Knowledge of copyright, content clearance, and usage rights for broadcast and digital media.
  • Experience working with affiliate stations and external news partners.
  • Bilingual language skills are a plus.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Media Studies, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant newsroom, broadcast, digital media, or production experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $62,400 to $83,600 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
