The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
The Medical Technologist is responsible for the timely and accurate test analysis using moderately complex methods and/or instrumentation. Reporting of results for patient samples is often interpretive in nature. They are also responsible for instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control and adherence to all laboratory policies.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Analyzes patient samples using current, moderately complex laboratory methods/instrumentation.
- Adheres to quality control and quality assurance protocols.
- Reports results of patient sample analysis using computer/instrument interface options.
- Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist III or II as needed.
- Answers telephone inquiries.
- Participates in the training of other technologists, technicians and/or residents.
- Performs instrument preventative maintenance as scheduled or needed.
- Performs method/instrument troubleshooting as needed.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in Medical Technology.
BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Biology with at least I year relevant clinical laboratory experience. AAS with a total of 90 credit hours (per NYS distribution requirements) and at least I year of relevant clinical laboratory experience.
Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Education as a Clinical Lab Technologist. An equivalent combination of education and experience
