The Role
Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) is a team that is comprised of inclusive and diverse Agile teams, where everyone has a voice in the conversation. VMEC is a production level group that supports the definition, design, and development of all embedded controllers that impact vehicle motion. Thermal Runaway Propagation (TRP) is focused on the development and execution of diagnostics and prognostics to detect and prevent thermal runaway in the High Voltage Battery System.
VMEC TRP Team is seeking a creative, highly motivated, Software Engineer with passion and expertise in Embedded Controls and great attention to detail. The selected
candidate will develop diagnostic and prognostic algorithms using telemetry, data
analysis & best practices for VMEC features and support the growth capabilities to keep us at the forefront of emerging technology.
What You'll Do
  • Deliver software technical solutions including specifying of requirements, functional decomposition, analysis, development and testing for the TRP organization utilizing the ART Framework.
    • Software implementation of Controls Design to continuously improve software for mechatronic controls and diagnostics strategies as well as controller communication.
    • Test and demonstrate software functionality.
    • Document requirements for design solutions.
    • Link design solutions to test cases that can demonstrate software functionality.
    • Utilize automated test tools in build environments, benches and vehicles to verify functionality.
  • Team Collaboration.
    • Provide a voice in software planning events, share ideas and leanings to help train/teach others.
    • Document lessons learned and best practices.
    • Provide, communicate, and support common best practices among software community.

  • Utilize Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Technology, Information Security, Cybersecurity or other applicable Engineering focuses.
  • 2-5 years Engineering experience with proven technical and professional skills in job-related area.
  • Knowledge of Simulink, MATLAB, DOORS, GIT environment(s); plant modeling and/or analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Java, Matlab, Simulink, Python scripting, INCA, etc.
  • Knowledge of sub-system integration including design, implementation, and testing.
  • Proficient in C, C++ programming.
  • Knowledge of Auto Code Generation.
  • Outstanding levels of interpersonal and relationship management skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as required.
  • Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed.
  • Consistent demonstration of innovative thinking that is customer-centric.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with sometimes incomplete requirements.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills where problems are unusual and difficult.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • MS in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Computer Science.
  • Skilled in C, C++, Matlab, Simulink, Auto Code Generation, Python scripting, ETAS, INCA, MDA and other software tools for either the development or testing of software.
  • Experience with JIRA and Scaled Agile Framework.
  • Experience with bootloader, embedded operating systems, controller communication, or diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of AUTOSAR standards and methodology.
  • Knowledge and experience with CAN, LIN, ARXML, or Ethernet communications protocol.
