Wieland is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the smooth operation of our machinery and equipment. This will include performing regular services and preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns and supporting the installation of new equipment. This role is located in Shelbyville, KY and will be fully on-site.
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour Shifts
  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • Night Shift: 6:30 PM - 6:00 AM

Pay Schedule: Weekly
Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
  • Performs preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and servicing of equipment to improve equipment reliability
  • Provides regular maintenance of hydraulics, lubrication of mechanical equipment; demonstrates understanding of types of lubricants and application
  • Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities, fabrication, and welding
  • Performs commissioning of new systems and integrates into existing administrative controls
  • Read and follow technical diagrams and schematics
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques
  • Adhere to all plant environmental, health and safety guidelines, policies and practice
  • Provide technical support for efficient troubleshooting and or problem-solving activities to maximize efficiencies and limit downtime
  • Work with the operations group to increase reliability while improving plant performance
  • Must understand the skills related to pipe fitting including threading pipe, tubing bending and swaging pipe
  • Must be familiar with alignment techniques for shafts, conveyors and various other equipment
  • Should understand the major parts of a cylinder and how to rebuild them
  • Should understand the types and uses of valves and how to rebuild them
  • Operation and maintenance of various process equipment
  • Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and detailed troubleshooting abilities, of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to troubleshoot equipment by interpreting PLC I/O's
  • Perform other task as assigned, permanent or temporary to support efficiency in operations

Mechanical Maintenance Technician Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management or manual systems required
  • Two (2) years industrial equipment maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • MIG, TIG, and stick welding and cutting skills
  • Can operate mobile equipment including fork lifts and burden carriers
  • Demonstrated Problem Solving and Troubleshooting Experience
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to work under pressure
