Miller Industries – Design Engineering Supervisor - Fenton, Michigan
Position Summary
Miller Industries is seeking a Design Engineering Supervisor to support projects focused on the design and development of modular enclosure systems. This role will oversee structural and sheet metal design, fabrication and welding considerations, and assembly integration, ensuring high-quality, standards-compliant engineering deliverables.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical design expertise with leadership capability, effectively guiding internal teams and external design partners while driving projects from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support a team of mechanical designers specializing in:
    • Structural design
    • Sheet metal components
    • Fabrication and welding processes
    • Assembly of modular enclosures
  • Translate engineering requirements, specifications, and concepts into detailed:
    • 3D models
    • 2D drawings and layouts
  • Utilize industry-standard CAD tools, including:
    • SolidWorks
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and best practices
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, models, and documentation for accuracy, manufacturability, and quality
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Manage and coordinate work with third-party design contractors, ensuring alignment with project scope, timelines, and quality expectations
  • Provide technical guidance on fabrication methods, welding practices, and assembly processes

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering

  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in:
    • SolidWorks

  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding methods, and assembly techniques
