Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Sparks, NV that is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Automation Manager responsible for leading a high performing team of engineers designing state-of-the-art automated manufacturing equipment to produce industry changing products. This position will push boundaries in automation and set the bar for excellence in automated machine design that no other company can do. Our client is driven to excellence in product design and manufacturing, and their vertical integration enables working directly with product design engineers to optimize the product design for automated manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
* Lead a Mechanical Engineering team specializing in custom automated manufacturing machine design
* Clearly define expectations and drive accountability for the engineering team, improving overall design and manufacturing solutions
* Innovate by guiding the team on first principles design concepts to create robust, novel, simple, and cost-efficient machine designs
* Establish aggressive project timelines and resource assignments, challenging team members while ensuring project success, throughout frequently changing scopes of work and project schedules
* Guide and mentor team in large project execution with 5+ mechanical engineers designing a production line
* Establish a culture of excellence in performance on the team by reinforcing positive behavior, coaching negative behavior, and fostering a mentoring environment for growth
* Guide and direct team on design process improvements, standards creation, and training programs in collaboration with other mechanical design teams
* Work cross-functionally with other team leaders to develop and refine internal processes and standards
* Domestic travel as required to support projects and team members during factory installations
REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of custom automated machine design experience including industrial robotics, mechanism design, servo motion and custom linear guidance, weldment design, machine safety, and machine vision
* 3+ years of engineering leadership experience
* Experience with FEA and structural analysis
* Proficiency in Solidworks, Solidworks PDM, and AutoCAD
* Strong understanding of drafting standards and the application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
* Hands-on proficiency in mechanical assembly
* Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME/MSME) or equivalent
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
