Sheet Metal Worker

Department of Administrative Services โ€“ Facilities

Hourly Pay: $45.50

ย 

Summary: This position performs a variety of metal fabrication using a variety of materials. Performs repairs and fabrication in HVAC, mechanical and various other disciplines. Tests and balances airflows, Motor, fan, belt, and bearing replacements, and PMs as needed. Must be able to work in all Milwaukee County facilities including secure detention/high-security facilities and work in areas with sensitive information and assets.ย ย 

Job Responsibilities:ย 

  • Repairs: Repairs to mechanical/HVAC, replacing existing component with better/more durable fabrication, maintain high and low pressure duct work.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Preventative Maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  • Emergency fabrication and or repair: Involved in breakdown repair and reconfiguration of existing problems.
  • Balancing: Air and water flow balancing.
  • Administrative work: Work order system, ordering materials, asset management.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Cross department assistance as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current residency in the State of Wisconsin is required.
  • A valid State of Wisconsin Driverโ€™s License at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • At least Five (5) year or more of work experience as a Journeyman level employment.
  • Applicants must successfully undergo a criminal history background check to establish security clearance for Milwaukee County facilities and maintain this clearance throughout employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities required:

  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets and Email, and Work Order System.

License: MUST HAVE

  • Completion certificate from either a State or Federal recognized Sheet metal program, or Sheet Metal apprenticeship

Preferred:

  • Tabb certifications preferred
  • ASOPE Facility Operating Engineer 1st Class or Power Plant Operational Engineer 3rd Class or NIULPE 4th Class Engineer license preferred
  • Refrigerant Handling Certification preferred
  • Fire Damper Test Certification preferred
