Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
- Use Siemens NX CAD to perform advanced 3D modeling, manage large assemblies, and produce detailed engineering drawings that meet functional and quality requirements.
- Drive conceptual, preliminary, and detailed mechanical design activities, including material selection, architecture decisions, and preparation of comprehensive design documentation.
- Define, analyze, document, and manage product and project requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations to assess design approaches, identify risks, estimate costs, and determine implementation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and project stakeholders to deliver integrated mechanical and system-level solutions.
- Support subsystem integration activities, configuration management processes, and system-level performance validation efforts.
- Develop, execute, and support qualification, integration, production, and verification testing activities to ensure product quality, reliability, and performance.
- Lead technical problem solving and root cause investigations, and implement innovative engineering solutions to resolve complex issues.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a small mechanical engineering team, influencing design direction and promoting engineering best practices.
- Support project planning by contributing to work breakdown structures, effort estimations, risk identification, and schedule management.
- Document engineering decisions, specifications, assumptions, and design rationale to maintain accurate product records and enable future development and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards while promoting safe and responsible engineering practices across the team.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer working on complex mechanical systems.
- Significant experience developing complex mechanical systems, modules, or subsystems from concept through implementation.
- Proficiency with Siemens NX CAD, including complex 3D modeling, large assemblies, and detailed drawing creation.
- Strong mechanical design engineering skills with a solid understanding of system-level interactions and subsystem integration.
- Experience leading technical design efforts and influencing engineering decisions within project teams.
- Ability to perform feasibility assessments and develop solutions for complex technical challenges.
- Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments involving multiple disciplines.
- Knowledge of product qualification, verification, and validation methodologies.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and external stakeholders on technical and integration topics.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills for clear reporting and design justification.
- Ability to balance technical quality, cost, schedule, and delivery objectives in project execution.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with system integration activities and configuration management tools.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and advanced CAD modeling practices.
- Background in supplier management and coordination of engineering deliverables.
- Familiarity with risk assessment methods and mitigation strategies in engineering projects.
- Experience preparing and maintaining technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
- Exposure to project planning software and tools to support scheduling and resource estimation.
- Ability to mentor and guide other engineers, contributing to team development and best practices.
- Comfort working with multidisciplinary experts and stakeholders across multiple projects.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52.88 - $64.90/hr.
