Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a growing engineering technology company in Chandler, AZ is seeking Mid Level to Senior Mechanical Engineers to support advanced product development initiatives. We are working directly with the Hiring manager on these search assignments.
Summary:
This role focuses on designing and developing innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical systems for defense, aerospace, UAV, and infrastructure security applications. This position is 100% onsite.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead product design efforts from concept through prototype and testing. Responsibilities include developing design solutions for internally and externally funded R&D programs, supporting hands-on build and integration activities, and producing high-quality technical documentation to support engineering decisions and program execution.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop new mechanical and electro-mechanical products using SolidWorks
* Generate detailed engineering drawings and design documentation in accordance with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5 standards
* Create and maintain technical documentation (design reviews, trade studies, test plans/reports, requirements tracking)
* Support prototype procurement, build, integration, and testing activities
* Maintain and improve legacy production products
* Participate in bid and proposal efforts, contributing technical input as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
* 4-8+ years of product development experience
* Strong proficiency in SolidWorks with experience managing BOMs and engineering projects
* Solid understanding of ASME Y14.100/Y14.5 standards and GD&T principles
* Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM)
* Familiarity with mechanical fabrication and assembly processes
* Strong problem-solving, organizational, and hands-on engineering skills
Nice to Haves:
* Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP)
* Experience with vehicle or platform-based product development
* Experience working with composite materials
* Familiarity with Siemens NX
* ASME Y14.5 certification
* Experience with DFMEA or failure analysis methodologies
* Background in metal fabrication or composite materials
* Experience supporting DoD or defense-related product development (ground vehicles, aircraft, marine systems)
* Experience performing or supporting FEA
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
