JOB DESCRIPTION:
Compass Systems and Sales, LLC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer. This position is primarily responsible for researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Researching and analyzing data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Designing products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems
  • Planning and directing engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems
  • Directing and coordinating fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
  • Coordinating operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment
  • Designing products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software
  • Evaluating field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 2 or more years of related experience
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Project management and analytical skills
  • Experience working in Autodesk Inventor
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills
