Job description

Overview

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will plan, administer and design mechanical HVAC, energy and plumbing projects
  • Review work for the application of sound professional judgment and code compliance
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
  • Responsible for marketing, writing proposals, winning work, maintaining and developing key client relationships
  • Participate in client-rich professional organizations and functions
  • Train and mentor young professionals
  • Perform design and energy calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications
  • Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents
  • Prepare graphical representations of designs
  • Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel
  • Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
  • Experience performing field work, including identification of equipment
  • Experience carrying project from Notice-To-Proceed through Construction Documents through Construction Administration, including participating in project and review meetings
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with a background in HVAC, plumbing, controls, and energy design. Fire protection design a plus.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience managing tasks, and small projects
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design and construction standards
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing and energy design codes
  • Experience in leading mechanical design team thru project
  • Project Management experience a plus

Licenses and Certifications

  • NM PE required or obtainable; licenses in other states a plus; Fire Protection PE a plus
  • Professional registration in New Mexico required or obtainable
  • Valid NM drivers' license required; must meet company insurability requirements
