Job description

JOB PURPOSE:
Manufacturing Engineer Intern supports the manufacturing engineering to integrate or improve manufacturing systems or related processes relative to Injection Mold Processing/Production/Validation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Perform Manufacturing Engineering projects as assigned
  • Execute Lean/6-Sigma disciplines focusing on Continuous Improvement
  • Implementing creative ideas in the process of manufacturing and understanding the technicalities related with the products
  • Hands-on approach on improving the manufacturing process by implementing engineering concepts and optimizing the production of the products
  • Support Validation Team in transitioning new programs to production including manufacturing line, secondary operations and production planning
  • Configuring the products and providing manufacturing specifications to the teams involved in documentation to help prepare guides and instructions
  • Working with the manufacturing department and help them understand the technical concepts that should be looked after during the manufacturing process of the products
  • Working closely with the quality assurance team to make sure that the product is meeting the quality constraints as well
  • Identify and/or Lead Continuous Improvement/Lean Projects either individually or with team
  • Participate in NCR/Continuous Improvement meetings as required
  • Partner with Quality Assurance team members to identify any quality concerns within areas of ownership
  • Interact positively with all Apex personnel
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Experience/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Required:
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of an Engineering program. Demonstrate a working knowledge of mechanical inspection equipment. Ability to use mainframe terminal and personal computer as they relate to the required tasks.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in office, production and warehouse environments. The employee will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and will occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles, and noise levels requiring hearing protection.
