Federal Equipment Company is growing rapidly and is searching for an experienced, disciplined and organized, Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

We are a leading supplier for marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. Through the years the company has emerged into an internationally recognized organization with extensive expertise in marine design/engineering and manufacturing of critical shipboard systems.

Position Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for applying engineering, planning, analysis and design practices to create work products, managing assigned projects, and ensuring compliance with processes and error-free designs. You will also test to ensure performance, reliability and conformance to all applicable requirements and specifications. You will work with and coordinate other Engineering professionals, FEC associates, customers and vendors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, analyze and test to ensure performance, reliability and conformance to all applicable requirements, specifications, cost and schedules.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate tasks for engineering projects as an individual contributor or as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Create and develop engineering project documentation as required.
  • Manage mechanical engineering projects from concept to final deployment onto the manufacturing floor.
  • Investigates the latest engineering technology to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
  • Mentor and lead other engineering professionals to provide role model professional engineering behavior.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as determined.

Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a Defense related industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Solid modeling, FEA, are required.
  • Familiarity with MIL specifications, Autodesk Inventor, mechanical shock analysis, testing and project management experience preferred.
  • Must possess a high level of verbal and written communications skills along with interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and support cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to work effectively in both independently and in a team environment
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Results-oriented with willingness to take responsibility and initiative
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving capabilities.
