Job description

Job Description
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer, CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to join our dedicated team at our office located IN ANY OF IPS US LOCATIONS (CA,KS,NC,MD,PA,NJ,MA).
In this role, you will work independently on various projects as assigned by a Manager or Group Lead. The CFD Engineer may assist as a technical expert on specialized design. You may work on several concurrent projects.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate CFD models using AutoDesk CFD or other industry-standard software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+).
  • Perform CFD simulations for HVAC systems, cleanrooms, pharmaceutical facilities, and industrial processes to predict airflow, temperature distribution, and pressure drops.
  • Interpret simulation results and provide actionable design recommendations to improve system performance and energy efficiency.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate CFD findings into design documents and specifications.
  • Prepare engineering studies, feasibility reports, and technical documentation for CFD analyses.
  • Optimize designs through parametric studies and sensitivity analyses.
  • Performs additional tasks or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • 8+ years of experience in CFD analysis with strong Autodesk CFD expertise.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year College or University.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary.

Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.

Travel
  • Travel is based on the project and the project location.

Safety
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position.
  • The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
