Job description

D7 Mechanical LTD and D7 Pneumatics LLC are seeking motivated and safety-oriented Apprentice Fire Sprinkler Fitters who have already completed their first year of trade schooling and accumulated documented field hours toward their apprenticeship. This position offers the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on industrial, commercial, and mechanical projects across both Canada and the United States.

The successful candidate will assist licensed sprinkler fitters with installation, modification, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection systems while continuing to build hours toward journeyperson certification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of fire sprinkler piping systems in commercial and industrial environments
  • Support layout, measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and assembly of sprinkler piping
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
  • Assist with system testing, inspections, and troubleshooting
  • Load, transport, and maintain tools and materials
  • Maintain clean and safe job sites
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA / provincial safety standards
  • Work alongside welders, millwrights, and mechanical crews when required
  • Travel to project sites across Canada and the United States as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Completion of Level 1 (or equivalent) Sprinkler Fitter Apprenticeship schooling
  • Documented apprenticeship field hours
  • Basic understanding of sprinkler system components and installation methods
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel for extended project assignments
  • Legally eligible to work in either Canada or the United States (or ability to obtain eligibility)
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in industrial environments (sawmills, plants, manufacturing facilities)
  • Experience with grooved pipe systems and threaded pipe installation
  • Aerial lift / fall protection certifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (USA)
  • CSTS, WHMIS, or equivalent safety certifications (Canada)
  • Basic rigging experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Work at heights using lifts and ladders
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Stand, kneel, climb, and work overhead for extended periods
