American Leadership Academy is currently accepting applications for a Transportation Mechanic. Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, a valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance card and CPR/First Aid Certification.


We are seeking a skilled and reliable small engines Mechanic to join our transportation department. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform maintenance, repairs, and inspections of our fleet of lawnmowers, side by side and various digging equipment to ensure they are safe and operational for daily use. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, particularly with landscaping equipment and small vehicles, and a commitment to safety.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine maintenance and emergency repairs small vehicles and landscaping equipment, including but not limited to engine diagnostics, brake systems, electrical systems, HVAC, and bodywork.
  • Inspections: perform daily inspections and create an inspection interval for periodic preventative maintenance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Tool Management: Manage and maintain tools and equipment necessary for maintenance.
  • Emergency Response: Be available for emergency repairs or breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated with the latest in vehicle technology, safety standards, and repair techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • 3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance
  • Good physical condition to perform tasks that might require lifting heavy parts, bending, and working in various weather conditions
  • Provide a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record
  • Ability to complete Pre-employment Drug Screening
  • Ability to complete Physical Performance Testing
  • Ability to complete Physical Exam
  • Valid section 609 certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational training in automotive
  • Experience in small engines repair
  • CDL with P and S endorsements
  • Van/driving experience
