Maintenance Mechanic B

PRIMARY PURPOSE
As Maintenance Mechanic B, you will perform maintenance tasks and work orders on all assigned facilities and equipment both inside and outside the facility. You will complete facilities and equipment repairs, reflecting some variety and complexity based on expected proficiencies established through the Facilities Maintenance Structure and Program. Mechanic B should possess basic skills across all areas to perform work with occasional assistance from Mechanic A.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure all equipment and facilities are operating effectively and efficiently in order to support all operations; make sure all equipment meets standards, codes and regulatory requirements.
Carry out all duties in a productive manner and learn skills through training and job shadowing. Training will be offered and is necessary to move from various levels as well as the demonstrated ability to perform the work at current level based on assessment by manager.
Enter work into the computer maintenance system throughout work to use to investigate and identify repeat repairs and previous work performed on that equipment.
Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance on all equipment and systems as necessary. Safely shut down systems and equipment while meeting all standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
Trouble shoot and assist other mechanics when performing work on systems and equipment.
Meet evaluation standards on work orders and observations by management to assess and evaluate skill level and proficiency within maintenance department.
Provide guidance and training to Maintenance Support Associates.
Remain proficient in maintenance trade as required and stay current with today's technology as needed and offered by training courses/classes.
Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting their work group or center that will maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
Ensure compliance with Delhaize America standards in the areas of accuracy, safety, and productivity.
Perform works at minimal skill levels in areas of safety, electrical, electronics, refrigeration, material handling, mechanical, welding, fire systems, and domestic water/waste water (where applicable).
Follow good sanitation practices; keep work area clean and free of debris.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school education or equivalent
Mechanical and electrical aptitude
Successful completion of assessment evaluation to demonstrate experience and proficiency in areas or tasks assigned
The individual will need to show minimal experience, expertise, and proficiency in the follow essential functions to be hired or hold a Mechanic B level position in one or more of the following areas based on assessment by manager:
o Safety
o Electrical
o Refrigeration
o Material Handling
o Mechanical
o Welding
o Fire Systems
o Domestic Water/Waste Water

Mechanics are required to supply their own tools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Possess good communication, verbal and written skills
Dexterity with both hands
Knowledge and understanding of schematic / blueprint documents
Ability to reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to and including 80 lbs.
Ability to communicate and complete required record keeping functions
Must be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time
Able to perform work in difficult body positions and environmental conditions from time to time
Work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e. cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks)
Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers
Able to work in a team environment
Able to gain knowledge and learn more complex tasks as experience is gained over time
Able to supply own tools to complete required work
Be able to provide guidance / coordination with the operation and maintenance staff
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Prior experience in mechanical areas
Certified on powered industrial equipment where applicable
Familiarity/experience in maintenance environment
