WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:
As a Senior Mechanical Design Supervisor at nVent Management Company, you will guide a group of Mechanical Designers in developing outstanding mechanical builds that satisfy customer requirements and production timelines. This rare chance lets you blend hands-on engineering tasks with leadership duties in a lively and fast-moving setting. You will:
  • Manage a team of 8-10 designers who use 3D Autodesk Inventor and 2D AutoCAD.
  • Enforce mechanical build standards and guidelines.
  • Manage and prioritize build schedules to align with production needs.
  • Assign and coordinate design tasks to ensure quality and focus.
  • Maintain active involvement in building work and support the production floor.
  • Coordinate layouts and builds to meet company standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal collaborators to deliver flawless build solutions.
  • Provide technical support through documentation and vendor drawing reviews.
  • Mentor and develop a growing team, encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Travel up to 10% to support site measurements and coordination with other switchgear facilities.

YOU HAVE:
  • Demonstrated mechanical design experience combined with supervisory or team leadership experience, enabling you to step in and support design work when needed.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, mechanical build, or engineering within a manufacturing or production-driven environment, preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory, lead, or team leadership role, such as Mechanical Design Supervisor, Lead Designer, Engineering Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering Lead, or similar roles with direct oversight of technical staff, preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and design for manufacturability, experience with AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize design workloads and schedules in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
  • Solid analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Leadership capability to coach, mentor, and develop a growing design team.
  • Willingness and ability to be hands-on, including assisting the production floor and supporting design execution as business needs require.
