Position OverviewOn-Site Mechanic

McDonough, GA $32/hour Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Keep Our Fleet Running Strong

We are seeking a dependable and experienced On-Site Mechanic to join our team in McDonough, GA. This hands-on role is responsible for maintaining and repairing the company's fleet of diesel and gas trucks, trailers, and small engine equipment to ensure crews stay productive and equipment remains job-ready.

The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, organized, safety-focused, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll DoFleet Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) services on diesel and gas trucks, trailers, and equipment
  • Complete routine mechanical repairs including:
    • Brakes
    • Batteries
    • Tires
    • Lights
    • Filters
    • Belts
    • Fluids
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues
  • Repair and maintain small engine equipment such as generators, saws, and gas-powered tools
  • Coordinate outside vendor repairs for major mechanical issues when needed
DOT Compliance & Inspections
  • Conduct routine vehicle and trailer inspections
  • Maintain fleet compliance with DOT and safety regulations
  • Obtain and maintain annual DOT inspection certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Identify maintenance concerns before equipment failures occur
Equipment & Operational Support
  • Ensure all trucks and equipment are safe, reliable, and operational
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
  • Communicate repair timelines and equipment availability with management and field crews
  • Respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs to minimize downtime
Shop & Yard Support
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
  • Assist with equipment organization and yard support as needed
  • Maintain accountability for company tools and shop equipment
Inventory & Parts Management
  • Monitor commonly used parts and maintenance supplies
  • Notify management when inventory needs replenishment
  • Organize spare parts, fluids, and repair equipment
QualificationsRequired
  • 3+ years of mechanical experience with trucks, trailers, or construction equipment
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on diesel and gas vehicles
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Comfortable using tablets and digital maintenance tracking systems
  • Basic Microsoft Office 365 skills (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Must have or be willing to obtain DOT annual inspection certification
Preferred
  • Experience with diesel truck and trailer repair
  • Small engine repair experience
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Work Environment

This is a physically active role that involves working both outdoors and in a shop environment. Duties may include lifting, kneeling, climbing, and operating equipment in varying weather conditions.
