Job Summary

American Leak Detection of Maryland is seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Leak Detection Helper.

This is a full-time, summer field position assisting experienced leak detection technicians with residential, commercial, municipal, and pool leak detection work. This role is designed for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving, working outdoors, and learning specialized technology used to locate hidden water leaks.

No prior leak detection experience is required. We provide paid training in the equipment, methods, and field procedures used by American Leak Detection. The right candidate will be mechanically inclined, reliable, professional with customers, and interested in building a long-term career in a specialized trade.

Starting Pay
  • $18–$22 per hour, depending on experience

In This Job, You’ll Be Asked To
  • Assist lead technicians on water leak detection jobs

  • Help locate hidden leaks on residential and commercial properties

  • Assist with pool and spa leak detection

  • Assist with water-line, sewer-line, and underground utility locating

  • Help set up and operate specialized leak detection equipment

  • Learn to use acoustic listening equipment, ground microphones, pressure testing equipment, line-locating equipment, infrared cameras, drain cameras, and related technology

  • Help prepare job sites before testing begins

  • Carry, clean, organize, and maintain tools and equipment

  • Assist with digging, access work, and minor repair preparation when needed

  • Help protect customers’ property and keep job sites clean

  • Take job-site photos and assist with gathering information for technician reports

  • Communicate clearly with technicians, office staff, management, and customers

  • Follow company safety procedures and field-service standards

  • Ride with and assist experienced technicians while learning the trade

  • Develop the skills needed to eventually perform leak detection work independently

Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in construction, maintenance, utilities, restoration, pools, irrigation, landscaping, mechanical work, or plumbing is helpful but not required

  • Experience using hand tools and power tools is preferred

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
