Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: Hourly wage, adjusted based on experience.
  • Benefits: Seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employee/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) also available. 

Job Summary:

Snowmaking Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair snowmaking compressors, pumps, and related equipment to keep the snow blowing on the Beast of the East. The Snowmaking Mechanic will have a strong mechanical aptitude while ensuring safe and efficient snow production operations.

Summary of Key Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Locate, diagnose, and troubleshoot problems to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations
  • Perform mechanical repairs on snowmaking equipment, including snow guns, pumps, compressors, pipelines, and control systems
  • Execute daily checks to identify and address and potential issues or malfunctions
  • Maintain shop tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Prepare and maintain logs and records of maintenance and repair work done
  • Comply with all safety regulations and protocols in order to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

 Basic Qualifications: 

  • Formal training in air compressors, water pumps, diesel engine mechanics desirable, plus two to three years of relevant mechanics experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is required
  • In-depth knowledge of snowmaking equipment, including snow guns, pumps, compressors, and control systems

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must adhere to safety regulations and protocols related to snowmaking operations
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and work irregular hours
  • Must be able to work nights/days, 12 hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork
  • Must be physically able to lift heavy equipment and perform manual labor
