Job description

As a Lift Maintenance Technician at Smugglers' Notch Resort, you'll play a vital role in providing a safe, reliable, and enjoyable mountain experience for thousands of guests each season. Our Lift Maintenance team is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all aerial, surface, and conveyor lift systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently in compliance with Vermont State Tramway Board regulations, ANSI B77 standards, and resort safety procedures.
What You'll Do
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair aerial, surface, and conveyor lift systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and regularly scheduled inspections to ensure safe and reliable lift operation.
  • Respond quickly and safely to lift breakdowns and operational concerns.
  • Repair, rebuild, replace, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and communication system components.
  • Maintain lift terminals, towers, loading and unloading areas, ramps, and associated lift buildings.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and verify lifts are ready for daily operation.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance projects, major overhauls, and new lift installations.
  • Safely operate lifts, ATVs, snowmobiles, and other equipment used to access lift infrastructure.
  • Climb towers and work at heights using approved fall-protection equipment.
  • Support Lift Operations by providing break coverage and assisting with employee training when needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection documentation.
  • Deliver friendly, professional service when interacting with guests and coworkers.
  • Work collaboratively with other resort departments to support year-round operations.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Vermont State Tramway Board regulations, ANSI B77 standards, and Smugglers' Notch Resort safety policies.

What We're Looking For
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • A commitment to safety and attention to detail.
  • Preferred completion of at least Level 1 Tramway Maintenance Technician
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Previous experience in lift maintenance, industrial maintenance, mechanics, electrical systems, hydraulics, welding, or a related trade is preferred but not required.
  • A willingness to learn and develop specialized skills in lift maintenance.

Salary Level: $21 - $29 per hour depending on experience
