Job description

MEC is looking for Full-time TRANSPORTATION CONSTRUCTION INSPECTORS (TCI-1 or higher) with experience working on heavy highway, bridge, airport runways & taxiways and other transportation construction projects. The positions will located within the western PA area.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in highway and bridge inspection.
  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques used in performing tests on construction materials.
  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in the collection/evaluation of technical data.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction codes, plans, standards, and specifications.
  • Ability to perform required cost estimating, computations and calculations.
  • Ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
  • Proficient in MS Office products (specifically Word &Excel), Adobe Acrobat and cloud-based systems such as Box and iPads.
  • Must be physically able to do field work and have a valid drivers license

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (3) years of transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience or at least one-year experience as a PennDOT TCI-1 or higher OR
  • Associates Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field

CERTIFICATIONS: must have at least one of the following

  • PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification
  • NECEPT Field Technician Certification
  • NICET Level II Certification or higher in Highway Construction
