Position Summary

The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in leading all aspects of the meat department, ensuring high-quality products, food safety compliance, and outstanding customer service. This role assists in driving sales, managing inventory, controlling shrink, and developing a high-performing team while maintaining department standards.

Key Responsibilities Operational Execution

  • Assist in overseeing daily meat department operations including cutting, packaging, merchandising, and inventory control
  • Ensure all products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards
  • Maintain proper rotation, labeling, and storage of all meat and seafood products
  • Support ordering and receiving to maintain in-stock conditions while minimizing shrink
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools

Customer Service Excellence

  • Provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge
  • Assist customers with custom cuts, special orders, and product recommendations
  • Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
  • Promote department items through suggestive selling and seasonal offerings

Team Leadership & Development

  • Assist in hiring, training, and coaching meat department associates
