Position Summary

The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing daily department operations, ensuring high-quality product execution, food safety compliance, and exceptional customer service. This role helps drive sales, manage inventory, and lead the meat department team to deliver a fresh, well-stocked, and profitable operation.

Key Responsibilities Department Operations & Execution
  • Assist in managing daily meat department operations, including cutting, trimming, grinding, packaging, and merchandising
  • Ensure all meat products meet company standards for quality, freshness, and presentation
  • Maintain proper rotation (FIFO), dating, and storage of all products
  • Ensure cases and displays are fully stocked, clean, and visually appealing
  • Support production planning to meet demand while minimizing shrink
Leadership & Team Support
  • Supervise, train, and coach meat clerks, cutters, and wrappers
  • Provide direction during shifts to maintain productivity and operational standards
  • Assist with scheduling and labor allocation to meet business needs
  • Promote a safe, team-oriented, and performance-driven work environment
Customer Service
  • Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and special requests
  • Provide product knowledge, including cuts, preparation methods, and recommendations
