We currently have an opening for a Plant Manager in our Bicron Electronics facility located in Torrington, CT. This position is critical to the success of the organization and supports the overall manufacturing and operational performance of the facility. The Plant Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day production operations, optimizing resources, ensuring safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement. This position reports directly to the Business Unit Leader.

The ideal candidate will be a strong people leader with a proven background in plant operations, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to balance strategic planning with hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Details of the Role

The position of Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all aspects of plant operations. During the course of a standard workday, the Plant Manager will oversee production activities, monitor performance metrics, address operational challenges, develop staff, and collaborate with leadership to execute business and operational strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and manage daily plant operations to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Serve as the primary operational leader for the facility, escalating complex issues to the General Manager as needed.
  • Allocate labor, materials, and equipment effectively to maximize output and asset utilization.
  • Partner with senior leadership to implement operational strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Monitor plant performance and initiate corrective actions to address safety, quality, or efficiency concerns.
  • Lead, hire, coach, and develop production and maintenance teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze production, labor, and operational data to identify waste, inefficiencies, or excessive overtime.
  • Ensure all company safety policies and regulatory requirements are followed and promote a strong safety-first culture.
  • Utilize business and manufacturing systems to track metrics, establish goals, and drive improvements in plant performance.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to address employee relations, staffing, performance management, and training needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of plant and business operations.
Qualifying Attributes and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in manufacturing or plant operations leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a production or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of operational functions including production, maintenance, finance, and workforce management.
  • Proven experience driving process improvements and managing operations for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Ability to adapt structures, processes, and priorities to meet changing business demands.
  • Solid working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry compliance standards.
  • Experience using business and manufacturing management systems (e.g., SAP, ERP, CRM).
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time-management skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to balance strategic planning and hands‑on execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced or continuously evolving environment preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and navigate throughout the production facility as required.
  • Must be able to adjust focus, have peripheral vision, and see both close and long distances.
  • Ability to work in a production environment with machinery, noise, and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to lift and move up to approximately 15 pounds as needed.
