POSITION SUMMARY:
Cardenas Markets is seeking an Assistant Meat Manager to join our team. The Assistant Meat Manager will be responsible for maintaining and managing all activities of the meat department in the absence of the Meat Manager. The assistant will support the department by assisting with selling, ordering product, maintaining inventory, making sure health guidelines are being followed, scheduling and the overall business management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assist Meat Manager with preparing the weekly sales and labor projections for the meat department in order to maximize sales and profits;
  • Assist with preparing a weekly schedule based on projected sales and workload;
  • Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers, responding to customer inquiries, and complaints;
  • Maintain inventory levels;
  • Complete opening and closing duties as assigned;
  • Assist with monitoring quality of meat, poultry, and seafood;
  • Assistant Team Manager by making sure Team Members are following safety and health guidelines.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Food Handlers Card;
  • Prior experience at a grocery store required;
  • Should have at least two years' experience as a meat cutter;
  • Prior leadership and management experience preferred;
  • Understanding of grocery store operations;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Ability to develop and achieve sales and production goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS:
The physical demands and work conditions below represent those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Some requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities:
  • WALKING: Continuously, throughout the shift, while moving about the store and obtaining product.
  • STANDING: Continuously, throughout the shift.
  • LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
