Are you ready to embark on an exciting journey in the world of medical imaging? Mount Desert Island Hospital (MDI) in Bar Harbor, Maine, is home to an imaging team recognized as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellenceโ„ข (DICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
We're expanding our imaging services and seeking a full-time Sonographer (30 hours per week) to join our team. This position includes call pay, offering additional earning potential.
As a Sonographer at MDI, you'll work with cutting-edge ultrasound technology, producing and evaluating images that make a meaningful impact on patient care.
What You'll Do:
  • Create high-quality ultrasound images with precision and expertise.
  • Collaborate with clinicians and radiologists during ultrasound-guided procedures.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision-your skills shine brightly!

Requirements
Education, Training or Certifications Required:
Minimum - successfully completed two year work/training in ultrasound resulting in certification in sonography. Preferred Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited sonography program. BLS Certificate
Experience Required:
Minimum RDMS(Abdomen and OB-GYN) with at least two years scanning experience.
Preferred RDMS,RVT, and RDCS with five years scanning experience.
Special Requirements:
  1. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  2. Ability to perform sonographic studies on a wide range of patient ages and abilities.
  3. Excellent communication skills.

Cognitive Requirements:
  1. Good analytical skills and problem solving abilities.
  2. Ability to maintain professional skills while working with patients who may be critically ill or severely injured.

Physical Demands:
  1. Excellent manual dexterity.
  2. Physical strength to transport patients and equipment.
  3. Visual acuity.

Environment:
1.Ability to work a variety of day shifts with availability to participate in a rotational call schedule that covers nights, weekends, and holidays.
2.Possible exposure to physical, mental and verbal abuse from patients.
3.Work involves an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissue or a potential for spills or splashes.
4.Work with patients who have a wide range of illnesses and conditions.
