What is needed for this job as our Business Development Manager:
  • A bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in school or child care administration and/or relationship management with an MBA preferred
  • Educational system experience at school district level preferred
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Insurance industries or related experience
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time and to achieve results under demanding timeframes
  • Strong oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to relate to diverse audiences
  • Ability to lead groups in a manner that builds consensus and a sense of teamwork
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Networking, persuasion, prospecting, public speaking, motivation for sales, prospecting, planning, identification of partnership needs and challenges
  • Ability to make independent judgments, which have significant impacts on the organization

The responsibilities we will trust you with as our Business Development Manager:
  • Reports to the Senior Vice President of Youth Development
  • Identifying and developing potential new opportunities for service delivery, particularly through working with leadership at School Districts and other educational organizations
  • Contacting potential partners to establish rapport, schedule meetings and managing conversation deliverables
  • Ensuring current and potential partners' understanding of the value of Y partnership (membership, community engagement, etc.)
  • With Youth Development leadership, plan and oversee new market initiatives
  • With Youth Development leadership, create and implement plan for stakeholder relationship management to include consistent communication strategies, sharing mission impact and gathering/responding to feedback
  • Training personnel and helping team members develop their skills in relationship management and client care
  • With Youth Development leadership, develop quotes and proposals for potential partners
  • Gain a full understanding of YMCA Child Care and Camp programming, pricing and offerings
  • Provide market feedback regarding competitive offerings and community needs
  • Increase revenue and margins to achieve the YMCA's revenue and enrollment goals
  • Meet with partners regularly to understand opportunities for expansion and challenges
  • With Marketing and Youth Development team, create and deliver presentations in response to requests for proposals
  • Regularly monitor RFP opportunities for school districts in the GPY service area
  • With Youth Development leadership and Business Intelligence teams, create and implement plan for stakeholder feedback collection; Identify trends and create action plans in response to data
  • Coordinate responses with Youth Development leadership to build requests for proposals and respond to competitive threats
  • Regularly conduct competitor analysis to deepen understanding of the child care service system as well as evolving trends in the industry
  • Provide leadership for successful resolution of school partner issues to maintain and deepen relationships
