Job description

Primary Responsibility:
Operate cylindrical grinding CNC machines for production purposes of miscellaneous rotary products as per customer specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to compute numbers, widths and angles of tools, micrometers, scales, and gauges and adjust tools according to customers specifications.
  • Selecting, mounting and ability to dress grinding wheels.
  • Adjust machine feed & speed, change tooling, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
  • Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work area.
  • Wear proper PPE while in work areas of the shop.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to improvise.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Strong shop math skills.
  • Must be able to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers.
  • Familiarity with machine tools and equipment
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.

Education/Experience
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have previous CNC machining experience in cylindrical grinding or other related fields, or trade school diploma.

Physical requirements
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods - 2 hour periods.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
