IBM Sterling Product Owner

Location- Cary, NC (Onsite)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Product Owner โ€“ IBM Sterling OMS to drive the strategy, development, and continuous enhancement of our Order Management platform. This role will be responsible for maximizing the value of the IBM Sterling OMS product by partnering with business leaders, technology teams, and external stakeholders to deliver scalable, customer-centric omnichannel commerce capabilities.

The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of IBM Sterling Order Management with strong product ownership experience, enabling them to translate business objectives into a clear product roadmap and deliver high-impact solutions through Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the product vision, roadmap, and strategic direction for IBM Sterling OMS.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to understand operational needs and convert them into well-defined product features, epics, and user stories.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer value.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, QA, and delivery teams to ensure successful solution design and implementation.
  • Establish clear acceptance criteria and validate deliverables to ensure they meet business expectations before release.
  • Lead Agile product management activities, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, product demonstrations, and iteration reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline order management processes and improve operational efficiency through platform enhancements.
  • Oversee integrations between IBM Sterling OMS and enterprise applications such as ERP, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), CRM, eCommerce platforms, and fulfillment solutions.
  • Support release planning, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), production readiness, and post-release validation.
  • Analyze product performance, business metrics, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with significant experience working on IBM Sterling Order Management System (OMS).
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Functional Lead, or Business Product Owner within Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong understanding of Order Management, Inventory Management, Fulfillment, Distributed Order Management (DOM), and omnichannel commerce processes.
  • Experience managing product roadmaps, defining product requirements, and maintaining prioritized backlogs.
  • Hands-on experience creating epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release plans.
  • Solid understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum or SAFe.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to balance business priorities and technical constraints.
  • Experience working closely with software development and QA teams across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
