Biology Lab Assistant (Federal Work Study)
Job Description
This position is located at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, working under the direction of the Biology instructor.
Essential Duties Summary
  • Assisting biology faculty with lab preparation and cleanup
  • Washing and organizing glassware and lab equipment
  • Preparing basic lab materials and supplies
  • Stocking/distributing consumables for labs
  • Assisting with microbiology media prep and sterilization procedures under supervision
  • Maintaining organization of prep rooms and storage areas
  • Helping set up microscopes, models, dissections, and lab stations
  • Assisting students during lab times when appropriate
  • Following laboratory safety and aseptic technique procedures
  • Light inventory and supply management
  • Supporting science outreach events and departmental activities as needed

Required Qualifications
  1. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  2. Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully.
  3. Dependable.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
Completion of one science course and lab with an interest in laboratory work and biology preferred.
