Job description

Matrix Providers is hiring a Physical Therapist to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in at Naval Hospital, Jacksonville Florida.

  • Employment Status: Full Time
  • Compensation: This is an hourly position, paid bi-weekly.$45.00- 47.50/hr
  • Schedule: The performance hours of the MTF are Monday through Thursday 0630-1700 and Friday 0630-1700.

The Physical Therapist must have and meet the following:
  • Degree: Master's degree in physical therapy or Baccalaureate degree in physical therapy for graduates prior to January 1, 2002.
  • Education: Graduate from a college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 12 months of experience within the past 15 months as a PT
  • Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.
Physical Therapist Core Job Duties:
  • Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.
  • Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.
  • Administer traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment.
  • Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart and/or automated systems.
  • Coordinate treatment with physician and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of the patient's health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns, as required.
  • Perform prevention and wellness activities, education, screening, and promote positive health behaviors.
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic procedures and provide a full range of therapy services in support of patient referrals from the following specialties: Orthopedics, General Medicine and Surgery, Primary Care Clinic, Rheumatology and others as approved by Department Head/Division Officer.
  • Provide for safe and timely patient care. Develop realistic and documented treatment goals that comply with and satisfy the intent of the referring medical staff.
  • Administer treatments involving application of physical agents, using equipment such as a pulsed lavage unit and/or whirlpool bath, moist packs, ultraviolet and infrared lamps,
    and ultrasound machines. Evaluate effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Instruct patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home. Evaluate, fit, and adjust the patient's prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommend modification as required.
  • Provide documented treatment and discharge recommendations to members of the staff in routine, emergency, and special cases as needed.
  • Provide clinical guidance to assistants, technicians, aides, students, etc.
  • Provide input and attend rehabilitation team meetings, seminars, and quality assurance meetings.
  • Participate in peer review activities.
