Job Description
The Richmond Group USA has been engaged to find a hands-on Technical Lead - Product Testing & Validation Engineer to help develop, implement, and validate electric drive systems for some of the largest mining trucks in the world. These next-generation propulsion systems are helping mining companies reduce emissions and meet sustainability goals.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys hands-on testing, solving complex technical problems, working independently, and seeing their work directly impact products operating in the field. The systems you'll support are critical subsystems on some of the most impressive vehicles in operation today, creating unique opportunities to expand your technical skills and tackle engineering challenges few professionals encounter.
As the onsite technical lead for testing and validation activities, you'll be responsible for planning and executing validation programs, leading vehicle-level testing, controls validation, EMC testing, troubleshooting, and new product introduction efforts. Working directly with customers and cross-functional teams, you'll use advanced test equipment to evaluate performance, investigate issues, and validate cutting-edge electric drive technology in real-world conditions.
We're seeking an engineer with experience in electric drives, power electronics, controls validation, EMC, and electromechanical testing. Experience with motors, VFDs, MATLAB/Simulink, or high-voltage systems is highly valued.
Background:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with strong mechanical aptitude, or Mechanical Engineering with a willingness to develop electrical testing expertise; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience testing and validating electric drive, power electronic, or electromechanical systems
  • Experience with controls validation, system integration, EMC testing, and high-voltage systems.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, and test
  • Proven ability to lead test programs, troubleshoot complex issues, and work directly with customers.
  • Experience with electric drive propulsion systems, heavy equipment, mining, rail, or industrial applications preferred
