Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Department of Elementary and Special Education as a Student Mathematics Module Reviewer on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. The Student Assistants will review a standalone, 10-hour open educational resource mathematics module focused on elementary mathematics content that was developed for graduate students in the MAT Elementary Education program. Each student worker will complete and evaluate the module from a student perspective, providing feedback on the clarity, engagement, effectiveness, accessibility, and ease of navigation of its content and activities. Student workers will also participate in focus groups to discuss how well the module supported their development of mathematics content knowledge and how it may contribute to students' confidence and readiness for the GACE exam.
Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Employment is contingent upon funding.
This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
  • Completes and reviews all five sections of the 10-hour OER mathematics module
  • Reviews the module's instructional content, activities, directions, organization, accessibility, and navigation
  • Identifies content or activities that may be unclear, difficult to navigate, or less engaging for students
  • Evaluates how effectively the module supports the development of mathematics content knowledge
  • Provides specific feedback and recommendations for improving the module's clarity, engagement, usability, and instructional effectiveness
  • Identifies additional explanations, examples, activities, or resources that could strengthen student learning
  • Participates in focus groups with the instructional design champion and project team
  • Discusses how the module influenced the student worker's mathematics content knowledge, confidence, and perceived preparation

Educational Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

$15.00 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
