Mathematics Teacher 

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in the solution of practical problems.

CREC seeks talented mathematics teachers for a teaching position at Academy of Computer Science and Engineering High School.  Please apply to this position if you are a committed educator who is looking to work in a diverse school setting with a social justice mindset. Academy of Computer Science and Engineering High School is a comprehensive high school with a magnet focus of computer science and engineering. Students learn the basics of computer science, design, and entrepreneurship within the general Connecticut framework of high school requirements. The successful candidate will, preferably, have experience, or the ability, to deliver high level instruction in Geometry and Algebra II. Mathematics teachers work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
The primary function of a CREC teacher is the planning for and effective delivery of instruction and assessment of student learning, in alignment with the Danielson Framework, with the incorporation of the CREC Core Values:  Expect Excellence, Demand Equity, Act with Courage, Embrace Collaboration.   In addition, a CREC teacher:





  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for mathematics, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications Profile:





  • Math (029) or equivalent certification to teach high school math
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

Education:

  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Master's Degree preferred.

Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
FLSA Status:             Exempt
Primary Focus will be Algebra 2 and other High Level Math Classes
