Job description

Position Purposeย 

The position willย assistย classroom teachers in the instructional process, reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroomย environment.ย ย 

Essential Functionsย 

  • Support a safe, positive teaching and learning environment.ย 

  • Assistย in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans and provide routineย support.ย 

  • Assistย the classroom teacher in arranging learning environments, assembling materials on bulletin boards and/or other classroom learning displays and in keeping such displays current.ย 

  • Assistย students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects. Assureย studentsย understanding of classroom rules and procedures andย assistย students by answering questions,ย providingย proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and general guidance.ย 

  • Provide small-group instructional support by reading to students, listening toย studentsย read, andย observingย studentsย reading abilities as assigned.ย Assistย students withย letter andย word pronunciation and recognition.ย Assistย students with math,ย spellingย and writing exercises and assignments.ย 

  • Assistย teachers with the supervision of students during non-instructional times, such as emergency drills, assemblies, before care, cafeteria, restrooms, field trips, hallways,ย playground,ย and bus loading / unloading activities.ย 

  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher in implementing behavior plans.ย ย 

  • Supportย social, emotional,ย behavioral,ย and academicย development of all students.ย 

  • Supervise students in a variety of settings and events.ย 

  • Help students interact successfully by modeling and promptingย appropriate behavior.ย 

  • Serve as a Lower School Substituteย Teacherย approximatelyย 40% of the time.ย ย 

  • Adhere to Student Protection Program (SPP) procedures andย trainings.ย ย ย ย

Qualificationsย 

  • Bachelorโ€™sย degreeย preferred.ย 

  • Experience working withย children in an educational setting.ย ย

  • Serve as aย Christianย roleย model.ย
